The pmi is also known as the Project Management Institute. This organization is a non-profit professional group that was founded to enhance the field of project managers worldwide. The organization develops benchmarks and certifications in order to provide qualification titles to individuals working in the field of project management. The institute also creates and administers the examinations for each individual certificate that they create. They are also responsible for setting industrial standards for project management. These standards are published in journals and many of them are approved by the national standards organization. The development of these credentials and certifications are carried out in an “”open source”” manner and each member is given the opportunity to suggest edits or additional policies. A new development in the field of project management is the requirement to maintain earned credentials by supplementing the exam preparation with attending a certain number of classes, lectures, and seminars each year to maintain the certification.
